Being familiar with a variety of Dinan installed products, I bet it's  worth 
every penny, and has not a single MacGuyver in it.  I'd further  venture that 
in order for Dinan to receive the factory warrantee blessing,  whatever was 
offered by Dinan was far in excess of what might otherwise 'do the  job'.  BMW 
can be picky like that.
 
I apparently look at mods much differently than you.  I see a 400/400  
machine for 50k with a factory warrantee for 4 thousand over sticker  price.  I also 
venture that 400 with 13 psi would be impossible in any  S car.  I might also 
present that all the 10vt tuners charged massive  amounts of monies in the 
early 90's for 10 bucks (retail) worth of  zener/diodes.  
 
That's a lot of car stock, and a lot more considering *after* the mods the  
boost level is below a stock S car.
