I think the 9-2x doesn't feel as secure because it has a much shorter
wheelbase than your S4.

99" vs. what- 109? 114?

My STi is fine in the snow, although an abundance of torque, wide snow tires
and short wheelbase
make it really tail-happy unless I lock the center diff at 50/50.
