Hi all, hoping to get some answers/solutions/suggestions fast.
I just had thieves rip off a bunch of stuff in a rental car while in France.
Missing property includes my keys for my '95 S6 avant, which is in Denver.
At the airport to be exact.
To to an insane work/travel schedule, I have to drive directly from the
airport to Taos, New Mexico.
My spare keys are up in Vail - 3 hours away from the airport - and there's
no way I can get them or send someone up there to retrieve them either. At
least not right now, but I am working on it. It's a long shot, though.
I am assuming that the ideal situation would be to have a locksmith meet me
at the airport and cut a new key for the car? I've made a few phone calls
stateside, and I've been quoted approximately $150 for this service.
The dealer could be another option, but I am hearing from them that this may
take longer, and time isn't something I have much of. The trip to Taos is
for a ski event, and I have to be there the day prior.
Anyone want to take a crack at this as far as letting me know what they
would do, or share an opinion?
The key which was stolen had the remote, so ultimately I'm going to want to
replace that, and I'm thinking it's a "stealer" only part.
