Folks:
Took advantage of the unseasonably warm 70F temperatures in New England
yesterday ( its January 6, what is a honey bee doing in my car?) to replace
the noisey CC/Heater fan and the heater core in the S6.
Thanks to Fred Munro and his write up on the process I was able to complete
the entire job in about 5 hours of actual work.
Some things that I found...
* No puller required to removed the heater box on the 226k mile car
* Replacement of flap controller motor by previous owner resulted in
only one remaining unbroken screw tab on the cover $#!$!@##!$#
* You can remove the heater box without pulling the console per
Bentley.-It takes patience and a helper to hold the box on the engine side
while you reach behind the console and unclip the red and blue harness
connectors to the CC head.
* No matter what the CC setting, I could not get the yellow circular
flap to close on the evaporator - had to pull the flap controller motor and
manually turn the yellow flap so I could remove the rubber boot between the
evaporator and heater box.
I've having troubles with my Bentley CD (only partially installed). - Does
anyone have more experience with this motor (again, its located on top of
the evaporator housing)
thanks!
