[s-cars] Front Outer CV and Antilock

Hey Guys,
Yesterday I replaced my front passenger outer CV joint boot since the boot
was ripped in two pieces. Upon putting the CV joint back in I accidentally
hit the ring of ridges that are placed around the outside near the outside
of the joint with a hammer and dented a few of them in (I was using a piece
of wood and a hammer to help ease it back into place and missed the wood)
As a result my antilock brakes off light is lit up on my dash. Do these
ridges let the antilock brakes know when the wheel is locked? Did I just
ruin this cv joint and will need to install a new one to fix this problem?
Are there any other easy fixes to this problem? Also I understand that
antilock brakes are important but I will be driving from Mass to Virginia in
2 days and I really do not have any time to do the whole job again, not
mentioning I don't have another spare bolt or clip for the job, am I putting
myself at much greater risk because of this problem if I'm driving in good
weather and road conditions?
Thanks,
Chuck
