[s-cars] Trunk has turned into das Guillotine

Damn -- might as well hire some out of work bouncer named Bruno to ride
around in the back seat and hold the trunk open for you. We'll see how they
go. Stepdaughter is driving our Ur-S. Since I'm always doing the Bruno act
(holding the trunk open, that is), figured I'd do her and myself a favor.
Full report to follow. Only experience with aftermarket struts was on a 85
GTI and the replacements played like the Energizer Bunny and kept on ticking
and kicking for a long, long time.

Bill Noland
now filled with cheap, third-world, trunk strut dread in Oakland

Good luck with that Bill... They look like Meistersatz crap... They
work, but I hate mine, maybe you'll have better luck.

Note, with the Meistersatz, they don't fit 100%, you will have to take
both ends of your original stuts off and put them on the Meistersatz,
and it will require a bit of force to get them on. Otherwise if you try
to use the end caps on the Meistersatz you will be working pretty hard
to fit them on the car...

Don't lose your head over this. Discount German Parts --
http://www.discountgermanparts.com/ -- has them for $20.95 each. These
are aftermarket struts -- not OEM, but should do the job. I just ordered
a pair.
