Yes.  Two years ago we popped a tire of its rim in a snow rut up at the
Gruppe-Q event in Steamboat.  
Luckily one of the small emergency 12v electric air pumps was able to
re-establish the bead and re-inflate the tire
on the rim without the usual need for a big blast of air..... but if it
hadn't, we would have been facing a miserable job in the snow of removing
and taking the tire and rim into town for repair.  

Now I think I will just make sure I keep a can of starter fluid/ether in the
duct tape/zip tie kit in case an extra "pop" is need to try to reseat a
tire.  I think the idea would be worth a try in any event.
