Grant,
Sounds like fuel pump to me.  I've had a similar experience. When it won't
go see if you can hear the pump running in the tank by listening with the
gas cap off.  You can also pull the line off the filter (wrap with a rag and
loosen slowly) to see if you are getting fuel.
