[s-cars] A Balm!?

Hi Bill,

Last time I had a jammed pad, I just removed the calliper bracket (2 min.)
and a big hammer did the job in no time, with no risk destroying anything
around... something I'm occasionally good at :(

For the rotor, if the brake pedal and steering wheel don't pulse, if the
thickness of the rotor is within spec, and if the rust hasn't clogged the
vents (a small wire brush can solve this problem if rust start to bubble
inside), it's a keeper in my book. If there's a rust band on the part where
the pad do not contact the rotor surface, I would have the rotor turned to
remove the rust as it can make an annoying sound if the new pads are
slightly larger than the old ones, but it's only if you're AR.

Monty Python references aside;
Surely a visit from homeland security is imminent as I have more than enough
emails to and from Dave Kase WRT bombs.
But thanks to him and a 30 minute install, I have a new to me bomb that
suddenly has improved S car braking. Nice!
Thanks Dave and the anonymous donor bomber too!
As it alwaze goes with these projects, I noticed that dang front pads needed
a changing. Not to be defeated, I vice grippped, jiggled and jangled the
inner pad for two hours but the suckha just wouldn't come out.
What's the trick here folk's? The passenger side is on tap tonight. I know
the piston's should be pushed back but then how do you grip the pad? d'oh!!
I finally gave up and removed the caliper which of course lead to more work
cleaning things up whilst the rotor was off.
As always, a 30 minute job became 3 hours:/
Rotor looked okay with < 1mm even wear.
What are the indicators of when a rotor is done?
