Trunk lock repair employing the ballectomy procedure. At the bottom is my note that I managed (twice now) to get the ball moving again and lubricated. Once a year I apply some penetrating lube that includes teflon, and all my six Audi trunk lock balls move freely.

The trunk lock has a fairly common issue with a ball bearing that gets
gummy or seized and affects the automatic locking feature. There's a
write-up somewhere. I've performed the procedure, just don't remember
it in great detail. Basically, the ball bearing seems unnecessary and
can just be removed. Or something like that.
I think if you look for a website with a name something like
quattro123.com, that might be where the write-up is.
