I, however, have seen with my own eyes a compressed spring (on car) go awry
with my colleagues hand between the lower perch and the spring. Not pretty.
In his case he was lucky that the lower perch in this case was a flat one,
it didn't have a rim like our Audi perches do. He broke 3 fingers, but did
not part with any. Had it been a perch like ours he would definately have
lost all 4 fingers from the first joint on.

Just a reminder to be careful out there guys, fingers are rather easy to
loose. Just a week ago a friend of mine lost half a finger while cleaning
his motorcycle chain. A few months ago a friend of a friend lost multiple
fingers while rolling a customers car by pulling on a wheel spoke. My
brother-in-law lost his entire ring finger to an alignment rack (DON'T WEAR
JEWELRY WHILE WORKING - LEAVE YOUR WEDDING BAND INSIDE!!!!!!). Hell at
Champion Racing we used to joke with the crew of Derek Bells #9 S4... so
many crewmembers were missing digits that we applied a small graphic
lettered "Digit Racing" after the #9 on the bumper.
