[s-cars] Transmission whine

About 3 weeks ago I had a new clutch and slave cylinder installed by the
guys at Northern European Automotive in NH and ever since I have had a
slight whine coming from my transmission, almost unnoticeable unless windows
are up and no music is on.  It only happens when in 3rd 4th or 5th gears,
and I noticed right when I got the car back that it was somewhat difficult
to shift into 5th.  Since then the difficulty shifting into 5th has gone
away and the whine has lessened and gone completely away in 4th.  

I've heard some talk of linkage adjustment on the list recently and is that
what I need to do to fix my problem as well?  And also I was thinking of
getting the Apikol short shift kit, any thoughts on that?
