Chris...
I would get an Ohm meter and ring out the wire in question for
continuity before tearing into anything further. Many meters will have
a mode where you will get a tone if there is continuity, that way you
don't need a second person to read the meter while you are contorted
into a pretzel shape holding the two meter probes in position. If you
do in fact have continuity on the wire in question, you'll have to look
somewhere else. Just make sure there is no voltage on the wire before
testing or you can toast your meter. Good luck.

Subject: [s-cars] AC compressor relay - ground wire question
So my AC stops working, tech checks the freon its ok, checks relay and
when jumpering the relay AC compressor kicks on.
He decides it must be the relay, no problemo I steal the relay from the
parked Silver S4. AC doesn't work, hmmm swap relays back and its the
same. Start Silver S4 and AC works fine, swap relays, still works fine.
Check a couple things with tech, we determine the relay isn't receiving
the grouns signal from the HVAC control unit. So I swap control units,
everything is the same!
So now we're looking at the wire, which I need to determine if it's
damaged and where. It's the brown/green wire that runs from the relay to
the HVAC control unit.
I start inspecting the wires at the HVAC control unit, looks like there
may be more than one brown/green wire. Is this wire only providing
ground or is there an actual signal?
I'm hoping for a little guidance before I dig in further
Thanks
Chris
