I agree with everything Tom wrote, and wanted to add that my own  
experience with rebuilt compressors when I wrenched professionally  
(1989-1999) was that they were usually junk. Some rebuilders are  
good, some are bad, most are mediocre. There's no way to tell one  
from another without extensive experience. Also, some compressors are  
simply not rebuildable, but they sell rebuilt units anyway. Figure  
that one out.

My advice is to either buy a used compressor and a new drier, or a  
new compressor. Rebuilt compressors are nothing but a pain in the ass.
