Abe,
   You mentioned groaning steering and it's something I've experienced with
my new to me '95 S6.  Under load, turning right or left, I'll get a loud
vibration through to the steering wheel.  With the car on jacks, the
vibration/groaning disappears.  Is this something that can be fixed with a
replaced J hose?
