[s-cars] Shift Knob

Hi Martin:

The factory knob and leather skirt are two pieces. You unscrew the knob to
remove it, then pull upwards on the outer rear parts of the skirt and the
black plastic frame with the skirt will come free. Its easy to snap in and
out.

The Rieger knob is secured with two allen screws and is integral with it's
own leather skirt, as one piece. Visually, this provides a bit thicker
'look' to the shift lever. To install you need to first unfasten the stock
skirt, then re-attach the new leather part on the old plastic frame. Once
the allen screws are tightened you snap the frame in place and your're
finished. (except wiring)

What this means is that if the diameter of the shift lever is the same (it
should be with a S4 model) then compatibility has to do with the amount of
leather available. I'd order one for another car and see for yourself. In
any event I don't think it lends itself to be used with the factory skirt
part.
