I just had my 93 R12 recharged here in Denver. Cost was: $120. The
port # 16 under the cowl cover, (and behind a switch), is a low pressure
service port. Also the port # 18 at the bottom of the compressor, also
turned out to be a low pressure port. How do you get to the high
pressure port which is shown as #9 in Bentley, and is one side of the
condenser, in front of the radiator? There did not seem to be an easy
way to get to it. So, we just looked for 40 deg. F at the center vent
while charging through the cowl port and running the system. This did
work but would like to know how to get to the high pressure service
port. Has anyone had their R12 serviced lately? This was the first
time that the system has been charged since new in 1993, so any leaks
have to be very small. We also injected a dye for future leak
detection. The vents are now nice and cold.
This guy does his work at home in his Sedalia garage and seems very easy
to work with. E-mail me if you want his phone number. He also does
134a recharges.
Jerry
