Tom,
Bummer!!!
I had trouble with tire pressure dropping (when it wasn't obvious by
looking), resulting in bent wheels and damaged tires. I solved my
problem by installing SmartTire (from Tire Rack) pressure/temperature
sensors on the rims, which transmit to a dash receiver. It works
beautifully. I don't know if your problem was with low tire pressure,
but it sure may have been. I now run 245/45/17,which is certainly not
the norm, but I've been happy. If your car is lowered, they may be
too big. They gain an extra half inch between the wheel and the
ground, and they give you about 3.5% speedometer error, as I recall.
I have no rubbing issues at all with this size.
