All true except one thing. The GLHS cars were produced at Carrol Shelbys facilty in Whittier Ca. They have a Shelby VIN# and are not labeled with the Dodge nameplate. They were plucked off the assembly line and brought to Whittier for modification, where the new VIN# was applied. The Omni 4dr version of the GLHS was the first Dodge based car to where the Shelby nameplate and was made in 1986 ONLY. There were 500 produced, and all were sold before they hit the lots. I have #134. They were outfitted with a Koni adjustable suspension, special production wheels with Eagle GT tires, and only came in black. The ORIGINAL tuner car IMO.

The 1987 Sheby GLHS is similar but not as rare. It was the 2dr version from the charger hatchback, and weighed a bit more. 1000 of those were made.

Just more facts man from turbo-mopar.com

What is the scoop on the 7 cars manufactured/modified by Carrol Shelby over the years?

From 1986 to 1989, they are the...

   1986 Shelby GLHS
   1987 Shelby Charger GLHS
   1987 Shelby CSX
   1987 Shelby Lancer
   1988 Shelby CSX-T
   1989 Shelby CSX-VNT
   1989 Shelby Dakota
All of the vehicles above were originally manufactured on the Dodge assemlby lines then shipped to the Shelby Automobiles plant in Whittier California for modification. Other models Dodge made are considered inspired or influenced by Shelby. Those models include (but are not limited to) the Shelby Charger, Omni GLH & GLH Turbo, and the Daytona C/S & Daytona Shelby

Actually a bit of both. The Shelby GLH-S Charger and the Shelby GLH-S were
the intercooled versions of the Shelby GLH Charger Turbo and the Omni GLH
Turbo. Don't forget that the Shelby GLH Charger and Omni GLH came out in 1983
and 1984 (and base in 85) as 110hp carb versions of the respective models.

No, those that answered "Shelby" are correct. There
was also a Shelby Charger followed by a Shelby
Daytona, these cars were stylistically more like a
Scirocco- true 2-door hatchback coupes whereas the
Omni was a 4-door ala Rabbit/ GTI/ Golf.
