Kurt-
Makes sense -- now that I see how soft the rubber is that holds the
center bearing I would say that the spinning shafts will find their
natural center if slightly off since there is no real resistance,
I think setting the front to back center distance is probably the
more useful dimension to allow full motion of the CV-
So far I have pulled off the front CV since I was lucky enough to
clear it from the tranny. It was dry - notchy- and nasty and would
not responde to oil or cleaning-- still notch so I figured it was
brineled.
I broke it getting it off since my puller did not have long enough L
legs to get to the center ball. I forgot just to remove the balls
and races-- stupid but it had to be replaced anyway.
It was that stuck to the splines-- but it did come off.
Is Pelican the best place to get the 924 CV joint?
I now think I should have just pulled the shaft and strapped it to a
2x4 so I would not worked the center bearing rubber so much--- not
torn yet.
I guess I do not think very well when I am on my back
