[s-cars] Can Allroad headlight components fit UrS4 housings?

Chris,

Don't take the allroad headlamps apart...for your purposes they're
identical to a 2001 and earlier headlamp, but are much more
valuable on the open market due to their slightly more powerful
high beam and different esthetics (gray rather than silver
innards). Sell them on ebay and buy a set of A6 lamps (pre 2002).

With regard to fitting...um, maybe. My mechanic had a lot of fun
fitting a pair of TT projectors into my C4 A6 ecode lamps. Turns
out most of the discussion on this list is related to S4 lamps,
which are somewhat different internally.

I'm accumulating ecode parts now, have one TT ecode projector,
looking for a couple more. I may also have pre2002 ecode A6
projectors and might try to update one of my C4 cars with
those...the A6 projector is larger than the TT and throws
substantially more light. That having been said, the TT projector
upgrade is pretty significant over stock ecode lamps...

Oh, and I think, but have not confirmed, that the xenon lens is a
necessary addition to the upgrade. The ecode lens has some fluting
directly in front of the projector, while the xenon lens does
not...I think the fluting diminishes the performance of the
projector and splays the light some...the cutoff isn't as sharp as
I would have expected.
