[s-cars] Musings, scirocco, now Callaway

Gotta admit, I'm a big fan of too much boost and grabbing a whole lot of wheel. My GLHS has more torque steer than one could imagine. It was just like my 87 Callaway Intercooled Jetta I had for a couple years. Pauley, good to see some of those Callaways are still out there! Tons of boost and all manhandling you could muster. Just love it. Old school driving .
Then again my Typhoon was more civalized for running low 13's in quarter miles. Quicker than my chipped S6 avant it was, but only in straight line and not in bad weather.

I test drove a Callaway'd 80 'rocco way back when (back to back with a
325
Xi) and damn, was that thing LAGGY but it went like STINK when on
boost. The
BAD thing was that they pulled the PS pump in the install but kept the
PS
rack. It was a beast to steer, even at speed. It WASN'T fun in the
twisties
'cuz all you were doing was trying to muscle the wheel steering while
hanging on when the boost was up. Didn't impress me.
