[s-cars] what shocks? and where to get?

Related to an ongoing discussion I'm having with a friend... Do spring
rates change over time? What if they're off the car? If I take an
automotive-grade spring out of a brand new car, measure the rate, put it
on the floor with an 800 lb mass on it, come back in ten years, measure
the rate again, will it be the same? What if I cycle that 800 lb mass
up and down for 30 minutes, twice a day, five days a week?

Which is another way of saying...is a 15-year-old spring a bad idea? Or
is paying Europrice $550ish for a set of S6+ springs any less of a bad idea?

-Cheers!
Mike
