You can, Dave. See my detailed write-up "Fooling the Autocheck" in the 
archives. You'll have to cut a few tracks and solder a few jumpers on 
the PCB inside the Autocheck control module in the fuse box. This will 
kill the Autocheck for good.
However the problem with your Autocheck can be easily corrected the 
proper way. All you need to do is repair the cold solder joint by 
touching up with a soldering pensil pin #1 of one of the chips on the 
secondary PCB inside the Instrument Cluster. Or better yet, touch them 
all up just for the hell of it as a preventive measure.
