[s-cars] Audi/Red Bull air races

I drove through Monument Valley Arizona on Saturday for a scenic tour
with the wife, only to find the parking lot at the Navaho visitors
center full of Audis with Michigan plates--didn't see Keith Maddock
or missed him. :-) Lots of new S and Q vehicles, though, and no
transporters, and a large group of white shirt and tie guys outside
the Audi tent. It seems Audi is a sponsor of a pylon air race series
of one class racers, I think. It wasn't unlimited racing like the
Reno air races, anyway. I knew of the red bull air races but did
not know
Audi was involved.

They were busy setting up for practice that afternoon and races
Sunday with a grader busy plowing new parking lots in the desert
dust, and
crews setting up the speaker system and inflatable pylons in the
valley with large ads in the center. They sure overwhelmed that small
visitor center and the local Kayenta airport. Even with a flight
instructor and ATP rated wife, we did not stay for more festivities
since we
had reservations in the Mesa Verde NP to climb some cliff dwellings.
Besides, the shade was limited to a few umbrella tables and those
bodies from the Michigan climate were sure to turn red after 30
minutes of that Arizona sun. :-)

Anyone view the spectacle in person or on TV?
