I've seen spikes of 29psi on 9.3 CR cars without blowing it first time.
Chances are greater that you had a spark arc in the distributor, similar to the
3B motor. Not sure about those injector sizes, at 300ATWHP you shouldn't
need more than a 33lb injector IME. 46 is too high, ck it out by plugging in
injectors into the RC injector calculator on line.

Stephen, I think you have a problem you haven't found yet. Find out what
toasted your motor, or you will do it again.

In the meantime, try to find a WX head to replace the one you have. A
5000turbo head past 1985 here in the states will NOT bolt onto the WX block
without modifications to either the block or the head. For more on this, get both
10vt gaskets (WX and MC), you will see what you need to do. The 85 turbo
head will give you hydraulic lfiters and allow you to use the WX head gasket.

If going with the WX head with mech lifters, try to get a WR cam. If going
with the MC head with hydraulic lifters, get the MC II (same as 10v N/A NF
cam)

----------- Steve , I am running the M.S. with their Spark program. We
did , in fact , get detonation with that program with the original 7;1 stock
pistons, Apparently on one of the first dyno runs with the new header, turbo
and intercooler, etc. The Boosst Controller =not a manual- was hooked up
wrong and somewhere in the mid rpm range boost spiked to 27 or 29 Lbs. before
the shop owner could shut it down. Burned pistons and total engine rebuild is
the result, that is why the new pistons are 8.5;1. Closer to other Audi's
stock ratios . The injectors were from O34, part of a kit which I did not
use. They were Ford truck 46lbs. Shop owner was sure the injectors were at
fault , so I had them checked... They were dead on spec. The shop owner
said he had been running a very high - near max somewhere - Duty cycle . I
have decided to get some Siemens 65 or 75 lb. injectors for the rebuild I am
looking forward to a better result this time. We are shooting for
approx. 300++ at the wheels. The turbo is rated for 396 from Blouch
Turbo. The shop owner told me that some part of the very latest version of Mega
Squirt does not run some part of a 5cyl. engine. So this is the latest
minus one or two editions, but it does have the spark code. Thanks for your
input! Thanks to all who have replied ..Stephen

Are you still running the MAC-02 for timing? The reason that I ask is
that IME, you will need some serious retuning of the ignition maps with
increased boost and 8.5:1 compression or you are going to have big
detonation problems. The stock system is all wrong for that
configuration. You will get it to run OK off boost, and on when it is
cold, but once the intake temps get high the stock maps can't handle it
and even to tune it properly you need to sacrifice some performance to
keep it safe. You will also likely have pinging at ~3k RPM on the
transition to boost that will need to be taken care of.

Hopefully you have the Megasquirt 'n Spark so you have a better ignition
system and control.

Steve
