[s-cars] Coupe Quattro Stereo Wiring

Good - I was thinking something like that. I have a giant subwoofer that fits
in the spare tire with a breather tube that remind one of "Danger Will
Robinson", Amp to be somewhere in the trunk - probably where you indicate and
battery in the tool hole with plastic insert removed. Seems there may be some
area behind one of the wheelwell covers to place the amp - hard to get at, but
once installed I never tough them. Need to locate the CD changer as well.

Three sets of aux speakers - Boston Acoustics in the front door, some
additional drivers or maybe tweeters in the rear deck. Big sub in the trunk.
All this in addition to a reasonable set of factory speakers.

So for now I will route power to the battery from a lead on the fuse box -
should not be significant load as the batterys will balance each other out.
When I setup for primary batter in the trunk, the 00 or -2 cable will go from
battery post stantion on firewall and route through a grommet I can't get at
easily until the engine is remover. Then there will be a dual feed to the
load center fusebox.

Thanks for the helpful replies from all. Any further suggestions are
certainly welcome.

Ben

If you lift the trunk floormat and look between the spare tire and
the rear bumper, there's a piece of foam used to tidy up an unusually
shaped space for storage. You can remove that piece of foam and get a
pretty good sized space for an amp. That's where the PO put the amp
in my old CQ. HTH.

I am adding a power AMP to my '90 Coupe Quattro and the amp will need fair
size + wire (10 Guage is what I am installing) to the battery.
Battery will ultimately be moved to the trunk for AAN engine install, but for

now would like to route to existing battery, but not good access through the

firewall.
When I install the battery in the trunk I will need to run a #2 or 0 wire
somehow, but this will be easier to do when the engine is out.

So wondering if any other good places to tap into with the #10 wire - fuse
box is easy to get to, but did not see a spare connector, but may be there if
I pull the box out. I know on some other cars there is usually one spare
large spade connector good for 40 AMP.

Or is there a good place to route through tre firewall that I am not seeing,
and can get too without too much trouble. Any BTDT?

The AMP will likely go in the trunk with the Subwoofer, as there is not good
room under the seat(would be nice) and even if I made a cutout, the cooling
is not good under the seat. Any hidden areas behind panels? Amp is about 9"
X 12" Kenwood with Front, Rear and Center channels.

TIA
Ben
