But the intellectual property required to make said IR sensors work
worth a hoot is a major thing. Actually, using those air temp sensors
to control comfort is a major thing as well, but it's different.
Also, those IR sensors, superior though they are (with the right
algorithm) are quite expensive. Also, did you ever notice what
holding a cup of hot coffee in the line of sight of the sensor will do?
I used to work in the biz doing software engineering on such systems,
and it's really not trivial.
