Start with reading the fault codes for the HVAC system. You can read
them on
the climate control head without a VAG-COM. Then you can treat the
cause
instead of the symptoms. It is time consuming and tedious, but there
are lots of
photos in the tech articles to ease the anxiety of the unknown.
