[s-cars] Epoxy garage floor finishing (NAC)

No need to worry, I'll be doing it.? The concrete has been in place for over a year with nothing but foot traffic.? It has not been sealed.? Moisture will not be a problem in my dry climate.

I guess my biggest question at this point is texture.? I don't want a slippery floor, but I also do not want a speckled look.? I want a single color.

The trouble with online research is the fact that several methods are recommended as the "best."? One says 3 stage... primer-base-clear.? Others say one product, no clear.? Not really sure how to come to a conclusion.

Anyway...

- DO IT! It's pricey, but oh-so-nice.
- 100% solids is good, no worry about fumes, and you know how much
product you're paying for.
- Make sure the new concrete is fully cured (about a month).
- Talk to the contractor to see if they sealed the top of the concrete
with anything. If so, ask him what to do to get it off. Also verify
that they installed a moisture barrier underneath. If not (unlikely),
you may have to reconsider coating the floor.
- Give the surface a muriatic acid bath to roughen up the surface and
flush well. As with any type of coating job, surface prep is paramount.
- I recommend a two-man team, at least. I did mine by myself, but by
the end of each bucket the stuff was starting to thicken to the point
the roller was coming apart (high quality rollers). I helped Saltino
with his, and it was much easier with two. You don't want to overwork
it when spreading or you'll get air bubbles.
- There are some big brands out there (Sherwin-Williams?), but also lots
of stuff you've never heard of. I went with MuscleGloss several years
ago, but Saltino found a better deal on a Rust-Oleum (I think) product.
It isn't the retail Rust-Oleum stuff at Home Depot and the like, this is
their commercial stuff. I think he got it through Grainger. His is
indistinguishable from mine. I can look up the info if you'd like.
- Don't skip the color chips, or silica, or something else to give it
texture.
- DO IT!!

OK... well I'm at the stage where I'm deciding on a floor finish for my
soon to be complete "dream car garage."? I've been looking around for
the right product.? It seems to be a generally accepted principle that
epoxies with 100% solids is the way to go.? However, what I'm not seeing
are any products with name brands associated with them like one might
expect.

So I'm wondering... anyone have knowledge or experience in this area??
Any products to recommend?? This will be an install over new concrete.

TIA,
Dave
