[s-cars] Instrument cluster woes..

I'm experiencing the dreaded instrument cluster display garble
   effect. I removed the IC and cleaned all of the connectors going into
   the IC, as well as the male ends in the IC itself. I also applied bits
   of dielectric grease with the hopes of ensuring a positive connection
   for all of the pins... unfortunately, I plugged the IC back into the
   car tonight after driving around for days without one and the display
   is still not working correctly. I can make out an ultra faint warning
   symbols for my brakes, and the illumination via the tiny orange-backed
   bulbs is present....
   any other ideas short of swapping the entire IC out?
   Is there anyone in the CT area who has an IC that I can swap into test
   for 5 minutes?
