Had the exact same experience w/ my H&Rs about 8 weeks ago. Both
front springs were cracked in 3 places on each, but neither had
collapsed (thankfully). H&R warranty was spot-on with both service,
forthrightness, and speed. I actually asked if i could buy a pair
locally from a dealer of theirs and have them send to that location
for refund to me, etc ONLY because i really needed them fast (was
getting married). Instead, James 2-day aired them to my wrench w/
zero questions asked. Hate the fact the springs cracked (99% sure due
to same reason you list below, Brian), but love the experience in
dealing with H&R warranty dept.
Now it is only onto the resolving how to get a S6+ front bumper skin
and valence on from a reputable body shop to replace the stock one
that the same wrench ripped off the bumper...... : (
