Thanks to Bob, Dave K, Tom, Manny, Dave F, John and Mike -

It was only after I realized the rubber boot MUST BE REMOVED in order to see
the plastic rib that must be removed, in order for the connector to engage
the plug properly. 034 instructions omit this detail. They only say - feel
free to trim some of the rubber boot for a better fit

After fitting all coils snugly and securely (I did not change out my old
spark plugs), the car ran perfectly. It's been a long time since I've had full,
clear boost and have been driving an anemic 2000 A6 2.8 auto, so I am a
happy guy again!.Time for some 100 Octane - just one tank.

There are some downsides. I am disappointed in the cosmetic issue - the new
setup is ugly. I'll try an Apikol cover, or maybe upgrade to the new RED
parts, but I like the clean look of the authentic parts. If I had it to do over
again, I would look for better pricing on OEM parts and possibly spring for
those. My original parts lasted almost 14 years, hard to complain too much
about that.

I also find it odd that the entire system will cut out completely if one
coil misfires. I confirmed this numerous times before I got the coils to fit
properly. It worries me a bit that one failed coil might kill the whole system,
leaving me stranded. If any moisture gets down onto the plugs (easy to do
now that the cover is gone and the boots really don't fit well) might I have a
dead ignition? I used to get a miss for a few miles after the dealer
cleaned my engine ( a service they provided after any major service). In a related
scenario, will the engine fail to start with the new system?

Thanks again - I've been on the list for 7 years, great to get so much help
so fast. Maybe I'll quit stealing glances at the new S5 and 'restore' the
UrS6.

Tom
