[s-cars] ARE ESS SIX

Now you got me laughing- Claudia Schiffer's nail polish? :-)

I've driven two different RS6s, didn't like either one- transmission did not
shift well by my standards. I wouldn't get one unless it had a manual, like
the Champion car that I saw down in Daytona a few weeks ago.

The standard for slushboxes right now, IMO, is the MBZ transmission- I've
driven Audi, BMW, Volvo, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, Honda, Ford and
some others that I probably can't remember and the MBZ transmission shifts
the most responsively. It shifts when I tell it to shift, downshifts when I
tell it to do so, the only thing I don't like is that it won't hold a gear
indefinitely, it won't let you bounce off the rev limiter.

If we're stuck with slushboxes, that is my choice. E63.

Otherwise, DSG is king- I can't wait to see the longitudinal Audi
application if they ever get around to doing it. GT-R has a double-clutch
transmission, I'd love to get some seat time with that one.

But nevertheless, there is no substitute for a decent manual gearbox like
the one I row every day in the Miata. :-)

I will take an Allison in a HD truck, though- I hate driving trucks with
heavy clutches and huge masses rotating about making it difficult to shift
gears.
