Don't feel too low...
I just got the estimate for suspension repairs to the S6 after not quite
dodging all the pieces flying on I10. The impact related, insurance
covered pieces and installation comes to about $3200 minus deductible,
plus the one new Pilot A/S that I will have to buy to match the new one
replacing the damaged one. It doesn't include that damaged wheel, but
that's only $150 or so from Tire Rack. It does include and amazing
$2,272 charge for the damaged rear differential carrier.
Now, the really fun thing is that, on top of finding a frozen ball joint
and the "I knew it was time to redo the bushings" assorted items, the
'other' total, with stealer prices and installs (bushings only NLA),
comes to $6200! That includes $247 parts/$442 labor for the upper strut
bushings; $620 for the lowers, $320 for sway bar bushings; $775 for two
tie rod ends; $2520 for the two rear control arms, and $990 for the two
control arm brackets.
Getting the insurance work done becomes the binding pain, as in how to
minimize the cost of the other work. Any advice, sources, etc.?
Thanks,
Steve
