[s-cars] fast idle

Martin,

Try giving the throttle body a good clean. I had a Volvo 850 that did this
and the clean fixed it. I clean mine periodically and haven't seen this
problem. Also has fuel filter been replaced recently?

Subject: [s-cars] fast idle

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone may be able to give me some insight into a fast idle I
am experiencing on my 1995 S6 with 138,000 miles and rs2'd. Tonight when
about to get home I noticed that when I would get out of gear when
approaching a stop, the rpms would head down on its way to normal idle but
all of a sudden it would stay idling at around 1,500 to 2,000 rpms and
sometimes the car would just die when left to idle after a short while. I
was able to just keep the gas peddle down in order to get myself home and
the car would restart with no problems if it happened to die. I have
experienced this fast idle situation in the past after pushing the car
pretty hard but it usually doesn't die on me. The only thing I could find is
that my oil level was low which I fixed. I have the original fuel pump if
that could be related in some way. I also have the 034 motorsports igition
coil kit which I installed recently so I don't think it is ignition related.
I just restarted the car and let in idle for a while and it is not doing it
anymore so I am not sure what this could be a sign of.

Martin
