I've been running Michelin Pilot XGT V4 and they have been good all around tires in this rainy Seattle climate. I value wet traction, low noise, dry handling, and chose VR rated tires for better ride v. the ZR ones. Don't worry much about snow. I'm considering 3 tires and would like your input:
a) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
b) Pirelli P Zero Nero
c) Toyo Proxes 4
Steve - I ponied up for the Pilot Sport A/S Tires a year ago last spring. Awesome tire. I do not have any experience with b, and c, but Michelins are the only tire I have always been happy with. $$$ yes, but when you consider what your tires do for you, I can justify the extra $$$. I ran, per Dave Dawson's recommendation, 255/40/17 on my Ronal Bolero's. Perfect. Special order though.
The stock wheels were then promptly shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Alpin snowtires the following November. These rock too. Quiet, handle well, and last winter, took me places where people were shocked to see me, in a big, white 4 door sedan. Little do they know.
Costco has $60 off on (4) Michelin tires until 11/4. I buy my tires there since I am there so much. I actually use the lifetime rotation/balance twice a year since it is not a special trip. Way better than stale popcorn, burnt coffee, tattered magazines and NASCAR TV at Schwab or Discount Tire....
