[s-cars] Big Red Knockoffs on Ebay - Junk?

i don't think they are the same. the cts-v, viper, mustang cobra, s60r, v70r, lancer evo, and some others use the same caliper (just look up the FMSI pad outline number: D592).

the 993tt caliper is quite a bit larger than the caliper used on the viper, etc. cars. even among those cars using the same pad outline, you should be careful because the mounts may not be the same. for example, the viper brembo caliper's mounting lugs are different from the mustang cobra brembo caliper's, even though they are similar and use the same pad outline.

I was 99% sure that the Viper calipers are the same as 993tt, but you
 really
need to check the dimensions before purchasing. IOW, don't take my word
 for
it and blame me if something is dimensionally off, but the discussion
 did
come up some years ago when people were mentioning the sharp increase
 in
price of the 993tt parts due to the decline of the dollar.

I proposed looking also at CTS-V, XKR, Evo calipers because
 dimensionally,
they're very close in rotor size, they're all Brembo and they really
 don't
make all that many calipers.

You also should see what the bolt pattern is- if you can come up with a
dimension for the 993tt calipers' bolt spacing, I can at least provide
 you
with the dimensions of the V70R Brembo caliper, which uses Porsche
 993tt
size rotors (332x32 front, 320x30 rear).
