The wider 1st gear didn't come into play until around May/June 1995.
The '95.5 models definitely had them and maybe some of the very late
'95s did. This was also an issue with early CBL and CGR 6-spds.
But, so what. It's just noise. At least the whiney 1st gear failure.
There's another failure mode that results in constant ticking in all
gears which may be more serious, but that seemed to be mainly '92 & '93
as I recall.
Just continue enjoying the car as it was intended. The gearbox doesn't
care. I've tried to break mine and it mocks me. No need to pussyfoot
around.
