[s-cars] Car stereo antenna - Roof mount better than in glass?

Chris,

My in-the-glass antenna works just fine. However it didn't always work
well. The previous owner had the windows tinted and the AM and FM reception was
crap. I was contemplating the same as you but I was going to go further and
drill a hole in the fender. Instead I removed the tint and the reception
improved dramatically. You may have the same problem.

Gentz,

I've always believed that in glass stereo antennas didn't perform
as well as "normal" body mounted antennas.

I've been unhappy with the reception of the stock radio/antenna
in my S4. Now that FM1 wants to work as AM, and while attempting to
adjust the volume the radio will cut off I'm contemplating a
relplacement system.

SOOO

Will replacing the in glass antennas with say a "fuba" roof mount
antenna provide better reception?

Also is there enough space behind the sunroof to install one?

Thanks
Chris
Tired of tapping da volume control!
