was it visible from above? i examined my upper strut mounts this evening, and they seemed to be fine. i was looking from above. i don't know if i'd be able to see anything from below. they appear to be OK. i noticed that one of the strut mounts seems to be set for maximum positive camber. i have to check the camber this weekend and maybe reset that strut mount.

how do you check suspension components for wear? for example, how can you tell if the tie rod ends need replacement? everything seems pretty tight, but with the car sitting on its wheels, i don't know if it's possible to tell just by pushing/pulling on the tie rod end.

This is another long shot--

You may want to check the rubber on the your top shock mounts. Mine
tore and were just ready to break lose when my car started to tram in
the front. Once they completely let loose they ram into the hood.

The cause was my own stupid fault-- when I got the Avant 10 years
back I installed the ABT suspension and forgot to reinstall the steel
bearing plate on top of each shock.

If someone installed a new suspension they may have also left out
this important set of plates.
