It is often that the advertised problems are only a portion of the 
overall issues with the car.  If you don't happen to be a shade tree 
mechanic you are better to junk the car than pay a garage (or, heaven 
forbid, the dealer) to bring the car back to life.

I am surprised how easy it was for you to take it north of the border?  
It ain't that easy coming south.
