Or, you can stick with the Bose system and just use the harness adapter from
Metra. I have done this on my '92 as well as my '01 and it works
great...that way I have an Alpine deck that has controls for an iPod built
into the head unit. Also, that little storage area under the armrest that
you always said, "what the heck actually fist there?" fits an iPod
perfectly.

Subject: [s-cars] S6 Needs Music
The 95.5 CD changer was built by Alpine especially for Audi. It was designed
to work with the Bose Delta
radio head and does not need a transceiver box like the earlier 10 disc CD
player in the C4S4 cars and the early S6s with the S4 Gamma radio. However,
unlike the early system where many Sony CD players would work, no other
Alpine CD players will work, only those made for and sold by Audi. Since the
S6 cars did not get the information display in the instrument cluster (Disc
No. and Track No. in the Diagnostics "OK"
window), you might want to dump the whole Audi Bose system and go with a
more modern head unit and a CD unit that can play MP3 files. As for the CD
cartridge, any good 6 disc Alpine from the 1996 period should work.
