Thanks Darin, that makes more sense.  I fixated on the
'94 as the p/n cited by Randy (928 351 949 03) matched
that model on the Pelican website
(http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911L/POR_911L_BRKpad_pg1.htm#item0).
 But then I re-read Randy's note and he has ECS stage
2, whereas I have stage 3.  So for stage 3 the correct
p/n is 993 531 959 03.
The pelican parts site shows a Mintex pad for $56.20. 
At that price it seems to be an experiment worth
trying- again I'm looking for the cleanest, quietest
street pad I can find and on other cars Mintex red box
fit that bill.
