As for using the Hitachi unit from a 96 A4, in place of one of the POS  
for the urS4/S6, I did it.

When I actually had an S6 (how I miss it) and an ignition issue, I  
pulled the POS from the wife's A4 at the time and used it in the S6  
without any trouble. Plug and Play.

Now, had I run it for any length of time other than for finding my bad  
POS, I don't know how well it would work, but it was fine for a few  
hours. I can't see why it wouldn't have worked for a longer time.  
Instead of a heat sink, in the A4, it sits on the cold air intake for  
the engine.

In the long run though, I said screw it and went to 1.8t coils. Now,  
all I have is a 1.8t car.
