Dunno about a "silver transceiver box," but for sure (and just to make
a day of it for the install) now is a good time to also install a
bluetooth hands free device.  I like the old Sony HCB 30 which can
often be had cheaply via ebay.  I stuck the bluetooth antenna under
the cubby hole, forward of the gear shift.  Just attach the mute wire
to the radio telephone mute and you have the radio mute feature.  It
is easily wired to the dormant oem telephone speaker under the
armrest.
Connect it to a new iphone and you have cellphone, navigation, ipod,
email, text messaging, traffic maps, pics of all the kidz and all
sorts of driving distractions.
I wonder what happens to satellite radio once internet radio is viable?
Been so long since I did this I don't remember install details and
can't find the Yahoo archives (if they even exist.)  It is safe to say
though, that if I did it, it ain't rocket science, but combined with
the ipod install, it is a day in the garage.
