WRT courtesy light plastic slider "things"/ buttons/ switches...
A number of years ago, I had I think 3 or 4 out of 5 busted and went  
about replacing all of them with new used ones.... which is why some  
of mine are now ecru and not grey... but, they work.
The fix involves bending the little copper slider thing on the inside  
that makes the connection from on to off and also holds the slider  
switch in place.  This little copper thing has to be bent to allow the  
switch to function back and forth smoothly.
It is normally way too stiff and thus breaks off the plastic back side  
of the slider switch from way to much repeated stress.   I also add  
some contact silicone lube spray.  NO subsquent breakage and am quite  
happy even with ecru switches.
I cannot imagine jb weld holding forever.   YMMV
