have you driven it since?  did it exhibit this same behavior?  I wonder, if upon hitting the pothole, if your knee by any chance came in contact with the key, possibly moving the switch to a not-quite- engaged position?

If not, I'd be looking at your fuel lines under the car.   Any signs of a leak?  Might be hard-pressed, without checking all of them, to find a loose connection if the jolt was that bone-jarring...
