The serpentine belt tensioner bearing can fail. The bearing can be replaced, as in the R&R linked
below.
However, the serpentine belt tensioner case can crack and release the tension in the coiled spring
(it's like the spring on a lawn mower pull start retractor) which will drop the belt right into the timing
belt and kill your engine. The PN for the entire assembly is: 054 109 479 - Belt Tensioner
