Big screwdriver is the easiest method to retract the e-brake cam if they're
not too stuck. Seeing what time of year it is and the fact that you have newer
e-brake cables would steer me in the direction of the cable boots.

I had newer calbles on my 200 and they would always stick when it got cold
after damp weather. (Especially if it cooled down while the e-brake was on.) The
newer cables have really weak rubber boots at the ends of the cables that rip
easily allowing moisture inside the cable But, as mentioned, it can be a lot
of things. If it's only sticking on cold weather though it's most likely the
cable boots.

Yes, I actually use my p-brake. Unfortunately it was stuck this a.m.Now at
115k miles, the cables were replaced in 2004 (about 80k). What is the most
common situation? Simple cleaning and lubrication at the rear wheels (sadly
neglected for a few years)? I read through Fred Munro's write-up - sounds
like a bit of a hassle to replace - supposed to be 50 degrees in a few days
anyway. Took the MB to work.
